Federal Skilled Worker Program

The Canada Federal Skilled Worker Program aims to attract immigrants that will be able to join the workforce and contribute to Canada’s economy. It is one of three federal programs managed through Express Entry, the Canada online application system for skilled workers. General Requirements

  • Attain at least 67 points in the Federal Skilled Worker Points test to be eligible for Express Entry
  • Occupation is in the list of eligible occupations
  • Provide evidence of competent English or higher

Quebec Skilled Worker Program

The Québec Skilled Worker Program has its own selection grid, distinct from the Federal Skilled Worker Program. The Québec program gives much more importance to the language of French, the official language of Québec, although it is not a prerequisite for eligibility.

  • Attain at least 50 (for single applicants) or 59 (for married or common-law applicants) points in the selection grid as per the QSWP
  • Provide evidence of competent English or higher
  • Meet the health and character requirements
  • Have sufficient proof of funds (this amount varies based on the number of family members included in the application)

  • Spouse/Partner Visa
    • An Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident can sponsor their partner if they are legally married or in a de facto marriage for at least 12 months
  • Prospective Marriage Visa
    • An Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen in Australia can sponsor their overseas-based fiancée/fiancé for a Prospective Marriage Visa. This visa allows for temporary residence in Australia for up to 9 months during which the marriage should take place
  • Parent Visa
    • Parents who wish to join their children in Australia may migrate there permanently if they meet the Parent Migration visa requirements
      • The child must be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen settled in Australia
      • At least half of the children must be living permanently in Australia OR
      • There are more children living permanently in Australia than in any single country
  • Parents’ Tourist Visa
    • Parents of Australian citizens and permanent residents who have applied for a parent visa outside Australia and are waiting in the queue can apply for a 5-year tourist visa to enable them to visit their family in Australia.
    • Those currently not in the parent visa queue can also apply for a tourist visa of up to three years with a 12-month stay on each entry
  • Parents’ Temporary Visa
    • Australian citizens and permanent residents will be able to sponsor their biological, adoptive and step-parents to visit and stay in Australia for up to 5 years.
  • Child Migration
    • Children who wish to join their parents in Australia may migrate there permanently if their parent is an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen
  • Aged Dependent Visa
    • Aged persons who rely on a relative in Australia for most of their living costs may migrate to Australia to live with the relative
  • Carer Visa
    • Individuals willing and able to provide substantial, continuing assistance to an Australian relative who has a medical condition may migrate there under the carer visa

The Business Innovation and Investment Program is designed to increase entrepreneurial talent and diversify business expertise in Australia. It is positioned to target migrants that have a demonstrated history of success in innovation, investment and business and are able to make a significant contribution to the national innovation system and to the Australian economy.

Australia Provisional Visa

  • Business Innovation Stream (subclass 188A)
    • Be under 55 years old
    • Net personal or business assets of at least AUD 1.25 million available for transfer to Australia
    • Business turnover of at least AUD 750,000 for two out of the last four years
  • Investor Stream (subclass 188B)
    • Be under 55 years old
    • Net personal or business assets of at least AUD 2.5 million
    • Invest AUD 2.5 million in a state or territory for at least 4 years
  • Significant Investor Stream (subclass 188C)
    • Investment of at least AUD 5 million in accordance with the Complying Investment Framework
  • Entrepreneur Stream (subclass 188E)
    • Be under 55 years old
    • Have a complying entrepreneur activity
    • Be nominated by a State or Territory government agency
    • Receive endorsement from an entity approved by the corresponding State or Territory government agency
