General Skilled Migration

Skilled migration visas provide an excellent opportunity for skilled professionals to live and work in Australia. Under the Australian General Skilled Migration (GSM) program, applicants can use their work experience, qualifications and language ability to meet the Australian immigration visa requirements.

General Requirements

  • Aged below 45 at the time of invitation
  • Occupation is in the list of eligible occupations
  • Pass the relevant skills assessment
  • Attain at least 65 points in the Australia General Skilled Migration Points Test
  • Provide evidence of competent English or higher
  • Meet the health and character requirements

Visa Options

  • Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189)
  • Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190). Be nominated by a State or Territory government
  • Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (subclass 491). Be Sponsored by an Australian relative living in a Designated Area or nominated by a participating State or Territory government
